To live in a world that tries
to hide all the sin
Behind dollars and taxes
and big corporations
or parties with creeps
on an island celebration
Guess it’s scary then
To believe what you know
To love who you love
And to never let go
I went out
And I saw the truth
People got all caught up in the news
Bottles of something on every block
And no one knows when their clock will stop
So make the most of it
And help one another
Quit fighting over nothing
With your sisters and brothers
I went out and
I felt more alive
I saw that the dove
Had started to fly
It was beautiful
To have seen what I’ve seen
To live in a world
That could hold all your dreams
What a miracle
To be right here
So be mindful of choices
And enjoy all your years

I went out
and I saw the streets
They were covered in troubled things
There was a woman holding an old photograph
And a man with a mind that’s gone nearly black
I went out
and I know what I’ve seen
It’s the world itself tearing apart at the seems
People are screaming “God help me”
And wildfires rage across the seven seas
I guess you could say
you could all donate
Instead of giving your time just to serve up a plate
Let me tell ya friend
What some good love will do
It’ll keep you safe while you heal from a bruise
I went out
And I reached for the sky
There was a dove that fell
Like a tear from an eye
I went out
And I touched the grass
I thought about my future
And remembered my past
